Information We Collect
Personal Data
Visitors may sometimes be asked for an email address or other details. How much personal data they share is their choice; disclosing such data is never mandatory, although declining may limit access to certain website features.
Research/Demonstration Responses
Interactive demonstrations (e.g., the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory) collect test responses and calculate average scores so visitors can compare their results. In some cases, aggregate data may also be shared with the researchers who developed these instruments. Such demonstrations do not ask for names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers.
How We Use and Protect Your Information
We use log analysis, database, and statistical software to collect information such as the time of page views, country, and general domain of visitors’ IP addresses (e.g., *.edu, .com, .org) to improve the website and user experience by analyzing usage patterns and engagement with pages and features.
Data Security and Retention
UnderstandingPrejudice.org will use reasonable efforts to establish secure connections with you and to restrict access to databases containing personal information to authorized personnel only. Typically, aggregated user data is retained for a period of approximately 10 years.
Online Safety and Risks
Whenever you visit a website or send email, there is a risk that unauthorized third parties (e.g., computer hackers) may capture information from your visit. UnderstandingPrejudice.org cannot prevent or take responsibility for these actions. You should not share any information that you wish to keep private.
Sharing, Cookies, and Policy Updates
Sharing and Disclosure
UnderstandingPrejudice.org has never shared information about individual visitors with a third party, and there are no plans to do so in the future. The information that UnderstandingPrejudice.org collects is strictly confidential and is used for in-house purposes only (e.g., to better the website and help reduce prejudice). The sole exception to this rule is that UnderstandingPrejudice.org reserves the right to disclose your personal information, without your consent, to government or law enforcement officials when prompted to do so by legal authorities.
Cookies
“Cookies” give users a unique, random ID by storing small text files onto a user’s computer. None of UnderstandingPrejudice.org’s features rely on the use of cookies.
Changes to This Policy
From time to time, UnderstandingPrejudice.org may need to change its privacy statement because of changes in its practices. In such cases, we will use reasonable efforts to publish any changes to this privacy statement.
